Most Frequently Asked Questions About Charging Kiosk.
-
What is a Charging Kiosk?
-Our charging kiosk is exactly that: a kiosk that offers emergency charging capabilities for cellphones, cameras, tablets, and any other mobile device. One of the great benefits of NV3’s kiosks is that the cables are built into the device, so you are no longer required to utilize your own plug. Instead, just plug your device into the machine and Stay Connected™
-
Will the kiosk charge my phone in 15 minutes?
-Our kiosks will not completely charge your device in 15 minutes; however, your device will receive a substantial boost.
-
What is the duration that the kiosk charges phones?
-Our kiosks have the option of one of two settings for the charging of phones: 15 minutes, or 1 hour. The conditions in which you would utilize the different charging times vary based on each customer’s needs, so please ask your sales representative to assist you in determining what your specific requirements are.
-
Why won’t the kiosk charge my phone completely in 15 minutes?
-The kiosks in the NV3 Catalogue have been developed to provide a “Full Cycle” charge, which conditions the battery during the charging process. This aids in the overall health of your device’s battery, and allows for a longer duration between charges. In order to completely charge a phone in 15 minutes, the battery would incur an incredible amount of power which can cause irreversible damage to the battery, shorten the overall durability of the battery, or prevent the battery from holding a charge entirely. To provide an example, imagine jump-starting your vehicle’s battery with cables from powerlines: your car may start, but the battery will more than likely never work again.
Mobile Devices
-
What types of devices does your kiosk support?
-Our kiosk supports almost all mobile phones, as well as iPad/iPods, tablets, cameras (such as GoPro) and any other device that utilizes an iPhone, Mini USB, or Micro USB cable. While we go to great efforts to support as many devices as possible, please note that unfortunately not every device will be compatible with our kiosks; however, we are always striving to support as many as possible.
-
Does your kiosk support the new iPhone 5?
-The new iPhone 5 requires a different cable and different level of amperage to charge correctly, and yes, our kiosks do support the newest iPhones; however, this is only if utilizing a Rev 5 or higher charging board*
*Rev 5 indicates the version of our charging board. This is the newest version of our charging board, and will be included with all kiosks ordered from December 2012 and onward.
-
What is the standard charging plug configuration
-In the past we have done 4-4-4 (4 iPhone, 4 Micro USB, 4 Mini USB) . We are moving towards 4 iPhone4, 1 iPhone5, 4 Micro USB, 3 Mini USB. Cables can be customized by speaking with your sales rep. Additional cost may be incurred for custom configurations.
-
Does your kiosk support older phones? (E.g. Sony Erickson)
-We have the capabilities to customize the cables installed into your kiosk based off of your needs, so yes, we can support almost any phone in production.
-
What if a charging cable breaks?
-Unfortunately, sometimes people will be more aggressive than necessary while utilizing the kiosk; however, not to worry! Changing a charging cable is as easy as unscrewing 2 phillips screws from inside of the kiosk, unplugging, and plugging in the new cable.
General Questions
-
What options are there for installing/mounting a kiosk?
-Our full size kiosks are extremely stable, and generally do not require any additional items for installation.
-Our NTC-1912, given its smaller size, comes with a couple different options for installation. We offer add-ons such as wall mounting brackets, table-top bases, and pedestal stands for optimal display. -
Ok, I’m interested in a kiosk, now what do the numbers mean in your kiosk names?
(E.g NTC-1912)-Our kiosks are named based off of the features that the machine offers. An NTC-1912, for example, utilizes a 19 inch screen for digital signage, and offers 12 different charging cables for charging purposes. An NTC-32T for example, offers a 32 inch screen for advertising, and also utilizes Touch screen capabilities.
-
What is the cost for charging my device?
-Generally, we suggest keeping the charging capabilities of the kiosk free, as the opportunity for advertising to a captive audience is significantly more profitable than charging individuals to charge their phones. We can, however, configure your kiosk for vending purposes if desired.
-
What types of vending do you offer?
-We can customize your kiosk to either accept cash, or credit cards*
*We only have the capabilities to customize your kiosk to accept either cash or credit, but
not both. Please speak with your sales representative as to which type of vending would better
suit your needs. -
I ordered a kiosk for free vending, and now want to charge clients to utilize the kiosk. Is this possible?
-Unfortunately, this is not possible, as each kiosk is hand built per order. To add vending functionality after the initial build of the kiosk would essentially require the entire machine to be re-built, which in turn requires a substantial amount more labor to re-customize the kiosk. In short, please make sure you have discussed all options with your sales representative before you finalize your order.
-
What is a MediaPlayer?
-A media player is a device which allows the capability to display images, videos, mp3s, and more, depending on which player you decide on. Uploading new images/ads to these devices is as simple as uploading the content to a USB Flash Drive (we include a 4gb drive with the purchase of every MediaPlayer). These players require on-site updating, since the device has no Internet capabilities.
-
What is the difference between the “Basic MediaPlayer” and the “HD MediaPlayer”?
-The Basic MediaPlayer offers the capability to display images (JPEG format) as well as lower resolution videos (.AVI or MPEG2) at a maximum resolution of 1280×720.
-The HD MediaPlayer offers more functionality, with the ability to display content at a resolution of 1920×1080, as well as the capabilities to utilize more formats of video.
